Can I be honest? I had an entirely different post planned for today. I wrote out an entire post that was so good and extremely insightful. It was borderline a full sermon. But as I am sitting here revising it, I realize I hate it lol. The content was great, but the message just wasn't right. I don't want to preach on here, ever. I want to talk to you. Woman to woman, about what I think God has to say at any given moment.
I was reading through Galatians the other day and I eventually made my way to Chapter 6. The final chapter, and one I would argue we're all quite familiar with. Anyway, I am reading and I'm immediately drawn to verse 8 that says if you sew in the flesh, you will reap the destruction of the flesh. Which is pretty self explanatory. Then, I read verse 9, the famous one that reminds us to not grow weary when doing good because in due season, we will reap that harvest. And I began to wonder why would we need the reminder that when we do good, we reap good things? That also seems self explanatory. Obviously, if I sew good things, those good vibes will follow me, right? In essence, yes.
In 2018, I made the decision to follow the voice of God all the way to Gainesville, GA to attend school. The beginning of my college experience was met with more confusion than I could even begin to explain. I was broke, behind on all my bills, alone (in a way), and wondering why, since I followed God's directions, am I experiencing all this 'bad' crap? It wasn't until later that I learned that following God ain't easy and that's where the reminder comes in. Don't grow weary when doing good. God knew. He knew that the call on my life was going to cost me, mold me, refine me, try me, challenge me, and so much more. The question is, do you know? Because if you don't know what God's call on your life is going to cost you, then Galatians 6:9 wouldn't make sense to you, truly. The 'harvest' portion of the verse doesn't just mean blessing and influence. Sometimes harvest means freedom. Sometimes it means deliverance and sometimes it means being more than a conquerer. What does "don't grow weary" really mean? It means there's going to be some things that come against you. It means that you are going to have to build up your endurance. It means you're going to have to see things through till the end because in due season you will reap a harvest. Because in due season, you'll be able to help a girl just like you. Because in due season, you will have an anointing that God will use for His greater purpose. Because in due season you're going to experience the glory of God...if you don’t give up.
If you have prayed and headed the voice of God just to get to where you are today, know that the resistance you're facing is okay. The enemy will never want to see you win, so he is going to do everything in his power to stop you. The beauty is in the God you serve. He never leaves you and never forsakes you. He is using every challenge and every hurdle to propel you, or at least that's what Romans 8:28 says. Let that be encouragement and motivation for you to press on. God is allowing this crushing not just to bring about new wine, but to bring about new oil. This generation isn't in need of just another leader and another girl boss. It's in need of people anointed to restore His kingdom! So, don't grow weary in that 9-5 job, because in due season God will honor your devotion. Don't grow weary in your purity journey, because in due season God is going to use your story to set another girl free. Don't grow weary in your singleness, because in due season God is going to use your marriage to redefine love and unity. Don't grow weary my love, due season is coming.
