So, for the past week or so I have been stuck on the story of David and Bathsheba. Why? I don’t really know, if I'm being honest. It’s been in my heart for a minute now, so, I’ve just been sitting and reading commentaries along with different translations. This isn’t about temptation or sin, so don’t worry! Today’s message is actually quite the opposite. But I was challenged with this perspective while reading.

Some of David's greatest children came from his relationship with Bathsheba. When I was reading different commentaries, someone said this:

“God brought fruit from their humiliation”

I believe that statement and truth, really speaks for itself. I think we get caught up in God only making beauty from ashes. That He can redeem devastation and loss but very rarely do we hear people talk about what God can do after you’ve been embarrassed or humiliated. Like, I immediately think about pastors and leaders that we watch become humiliated after their affairs go public. Yes, the circumstance is devastating but what fruit did God bring out of it? We seem to just dwell on the fact that they're now labeled as "adulterers" and have officially fallen from grace. I guess it’s because those are things we deal with in private. But it doesn’t mean that God cares any less. God can bare fruit out of anything you’ve been through. No matter what the situation looks like. I wonder what would’ve happened if David and Bathsheba hid in their embarrassment? If they would’ve said “I’m too embarrassed. I’ve been humiliated by my actions and the things happening to me” But God is so good, that He takes those things and shows His glory.

I don’t have a lot to say today because I really want this perspective to sit in your spirit. So, I'll just say this. God is greater. He is greater than any pain, shame, or humiliation you’ve ever faced. It’s easy to get lost in those things and find yourself doubting the very heart of God. But I encourage you to pick the perspective that God can and will bring fruit out of your shame and humiliation.

So, if you find yourself in a messy situation trust Him because you’re story isn’t over. You’re story is never over until it’s good because God only does good things. Wait, with an expectant heart knowing that He will bring forth fruit from your situation.

There’s nothing impossible for Him (Jeremiah 32:27).

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for the good, and I thank you for the bad. I thank you that in every situation you can bring forth fruit. So, Lord we submit our humiliation, shame, and any embarrassment we may feel, to you. WE ask that you would heal our hearts and restore our hope. We set our expectations on who we know you to be and that is faithful! We know that you take what the enemy means for evil and you turn it for our good and your glory. Have your way! In Jesus name, Amen.
