Welcome back, friends! Had to take a mental day off to recalibrate my heart and mind for the remaining days of this fast. Blogging and submitting for 21 straight days has been extremely stretching in all the best ways. But i’m back and better than ever. So ready to end these 21 days on a high!!
In these past couple of months, i've been traveling a lot. And I know what you’re thinking “wow, how luxurious!!” And that’s not at all what it has been haha. I have been traveling between two places I call home in an attempt to find some sort of direction. So, you can imagine I have been flying a lot. And I am not one to really be scared about flying but at the same time I have been hyper aware of plane crashes and turbulence. I HATE turbulence. Which sounds dramatic, but it’s true!!
But one evening I was flying back to Florida and my flight was basically empty. There were only 70ish people on there and I was living my best life. But I was sitting by the window and all I could see was this bed of clouds and the moon shining over the plane and sky. In some ways it was kind of eary but it was also very peaceful. And for a moment, nothing below the clouds mattered. Not life, not conflict, not responsibilities, nothing. Just me, peace, and these clouds. Apparently there was a whole storm happening beneath the clouds, but the plane kept me so far removed from the affects of it. And it got me thinking about how God does that for us in certain seasons and storms. He keeps us in His embrace and far removed from the affects of the storms in our life. But also, in the event that we do find ourselves in the midst of storms, God is capable of navigating us through.
Did you know that even when turbulence comes, it’s okay? Planes are built for things like turbulence. No matter how strong the wind, the plane endures. But sometimes it can get scary because all we feel is the shaking and bobbing of the plane. But the pilot flies with confidence because he knows it’s just a little wind; we’re built for this. In the same regard, we can be grateful for a king who knows how to fly this plane called life. A king that says “don’t worry about the bumpy ride ahead!! This vessel was built to stand through these winds. I’m gonna get you where I promised you. “
Why do we still get on planes even after scary experiences? I remember experiencing the worst turbulence I had personally ever experienced. It was to the point where I was planning how I was gonna get home because flying, at that point, was no longer an option . But aside from monetary and practical reasons, I still fly. Why? Because I’ve landed safely before, I’ll land safely again. Why do I continue to put my faith in this God that seems allow me to go into troubled waters and seemingly dark valleys? Because he’s landed me safely before, so he’ll land me safely again. That’s the faithfulness of God.
So, let this be your encouragement to trust him. Yes, you’ve experienced scary and trying times, but you can trust him.
Dear Heavenly Father,
God I thank you for your protection. I thank you that you can see things that we cannot. I thank you that you are more than capable of carrying us through the storms of life. God, we take this time to acknowledge your glory and power! We trust you and we rely on you. We thank you that in the darkest of valleys, you’re still with us. we love you, and we will wait on you. In Jesus name, Amen.
